On the ancient slopes of Wolstonbury Hill—right in the heart of the South Downs National Park, our refurbished 16′ Shepherd’s Hut nurtures gentle, sustainable resting. In its own private paddock.
Think boutique safari, just with rolling English hills and sheep instead of the Serengeti, with Bronze Age monuments as your backdrop, watch vast sunsets. Be close to nature without roughing it.

The paddock is reserved exclusively for you. If you’re a small as a small group, its possible to pitch tents or park a campervan alongside. Or just enjoy it singularly.
🛏️ Luxe meets Genuine Eco Comforts
- The Sleep: Drift off in the super comfy king size bed to the gentle soundtrack of nearby sheep. (Fair warning: they might act as an alarm clock, too!)
- The Kit: Ambient lighting, plug sockets, a kettle, and a cooking plate to make life easier
🌿 Wolstonbury Wild Wash
We are located in a protected nature reserve, – its not a place for shower blocks and flushing toilets. Instead, experience a cleaner, greener, and more meditative way to refresh yourself:
- Our Mineral Water: gorgeous, Wolstonbury water (tested each year) We asked AI to rate it against Evian—and Wolstonbury water won!
- Zen Washing Ritual: The nearby barn provides piping-hot, solar-heated hill water. Slow down for a refreshing outdoor bucket wash. Clean flannels and organic lavender oil provided.. more safari spa than push button convenience.
- The Loos: Wild wees are welcomed. For everything else, we have super-eco and clean composting toilets that keep the hill’s delicate ecosystem happy. It respects the pristine mineral water too.. it’s not for pooing in! Contribute to the compost instead. This tends to filter out ‘the wrong customer’ for this precious place.

Experience the Bucket Wash
You’re out back of the barn – which has piping hot water for washing up or washing you..Enjoy the rustic sky-above-head washing cubicles.. or in your private paddock and in the nuddie .. !?
