why we don't do Insta

In strictly business terms, this place is perfect for Instagram.. everywhere you look (except into the composting loos) is idyllic.. BUT, this place isn’t all about business..  yes, money matters, but if we genuinely want to help people connect with a place, nature, and ultimately their our minds, then there’s a problem with Insta..

Anyone who comes here because of an Insta image, is much more likely to want to take one; and ‘photos for socials’, subtly differ from regular pics.  They take you away from the place and the experience in a more immediate way – it’s Instant!  Sharing with friends is a lovely thing, and thanks to everyone who does it, but that’s enough.. primarily the point is to enjoy your time here, by actually being here.   Even South Downs Way walkers are amazingly ‘absent’ sometimes.. rushing to keep to a timeframe of their own making..  and it can be just as bad for staff when there’s a lot to do.. We can rush, maybe sometimes it’s valid, but the best thing to do when at Wolstonbury, with a little traffic hum to remind us, is appreciate this is a time to take it easy.  Stop and just observe.  You know.. breathe.. which is, as it goes, impossible to photograph.  Of course people have tried.. and we hope you agree, none of us need any more stock-images of ‘wellbeing’.   So, got a bit carried away there, but that’s the reason there’s no Insta account.  🙂
